Who Needs an Ontario Waste Audit?
In Ontario, provincial regulations mandate that specific waste generators complete an annual waste audit and maintain a waste reduction work plan. Staying compliant is a critical part of running a reputable business.
Under O. Reg. 102/94, your facility requires an annual audit if it meets any of the following standards:
Construction & Demolition Projects
Total floor area of at least 2,000 m² (residential or commercial).
Educational Institutions
More than 350 persons enrolled in a calendar year.
Hotels & Motels
More than 75 units.
Large Office Buildings
At least 10,000 m² of total office floor area.
Retail Shopping Establishments & Complexes
Total floor area of at least 10,000 m².
Manufacturing Facilities
More than 16,000 hours worked in any calendar month over the past two years.
Restaurants
Gross annual sales of $3 million or more across all locations in Ontario.
Public Hospitals
Any facility designated as a Group A, B, or F hospital.
