Carmeuse Lime Plant
Carmuse Lime and Stone used to be an abandoned facility with structures towering over 160 feet in height. The project entailed the dismantling of multiple concrete silos, each standing at 130 feet tall, which were originally used for lime dust storage. The height of the structures required a unique solution to safely demolish them. In total, more than 1,600 tons of steel were salvaged from this undertaking.
Former OPG Thunder Bay
The former Coal Fired Power Generation Station had three boilers (over 300’), three turbines, three precipitators (over 200’), a 650’ concrete stack, a water inlet and outlet, and associated outbuildings. Commencing in April 2021, a momentous undertaking unfolded on the premises. In June 2022, the top-hung boilers were safely and spectacularly brought down using precisely executed explosives, marking a significant milestone in the project's timeline.
