Selective demolition of the old brick brewery

OLD BRICK BREWERY

The project focused on the selective demolition of a 12,000 sf industrial building. The project involved the removal of all interior finishes back to the base structure. A different contractor then placed structural steel support elements into the building when this was finished. Once the structure was secure, our team removed the roof, exterior walls and interior floors and wood structural framing. This effectively isolated the center of the structure from the rear and left the supported historical front section in place for future reuse.

INDUSTRIAL

Industrial demolition project featuring high reach equipment.

CARMEUSE LIME PLANT

Carmuse Lime and Stone used to be an abandoned facility with structures towering over 160 feet in height. The project entailed the dismantling of multiple concrete silos, each standing at 130 feet tall, which were originally used for lime dust storage. The height of the structures required a unique solution to safely demolish them. In total, more than 1,600 tons of steel were salvaged from this undertaking.

Demolition preparation of the last building of the former OPG plant, with a pile of scrap metal in the foreground stacked for asset recovery

FORMER OPG THUNDER BAY

The former Coal Fired Power Generation Station had three boilers (over 300’), three turbines, three precipitators (over 200’), a 650’ concrete stack, a water inlet and outlet, and associated outbuildings. Commencing in April 2021, a momentous undertaking unfolded on the premises. In June 2022, the top-hung boilers were safely and spectacularly brought down using precisely executed explosives, marking a significant milestone in the project's timeline. A pivotal facet of this endeavor involves meticulously sorting, categorizing, preparing, and dispatching ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals to offsite locations, underscoring the project's commitment to environmental sustainability and resource utilization.
